IdeaData Vision and Focus - Driving the Evolution of NetFlow/Flow-Based Network Analysis
Since 1995 IdeaData has been a leader in supplying network analytics solutions for the Enterprise and ISP/Telco marketplace.
Even before NetFlow was introduced IdeaData was working with Cisco customers to help them gain detailed visibility into their network traffic.
IdeaData leveraged its core competencies in software/database development and networking to pioneer a software application to extract "usage" information from Cisco routers using rudimentary Cisco IOS capabilities.
When NetFlow was introduced in 1996, IdeaData already had an advanced understanding of the power and value that this technology could deliver to the network management arena. The vision that networks would rapidly move from "connectivity" to "complexity" and network traffic levels would explode was clear to the development team at IdeaData.
A major development project was launched to design a purpose built NetFlow Analysis solution, NetFlow Auditor, that would scale to collect, store and report on NetFlow data streams at the rates of up to 1 million flows/second, an industry benchmark.
Today NetFlow Auditor (built on a patent pending technology, Digitoll) delivers the most advanced and scalable NetFlow/Flow-based Analysis solution in the industry, with additional solutions about to be launched.
In 2007 IdeaData was recognized by Cisco Systems as having deployed one of the largest NetFlow Analysis solutions in the world with 1.3 million users across 2600 locations. IdeaData was invited to join the Cisco Technology Development Program and to showcase NetFlow Auditor at Networkers 2007, Cisco's premier technology event.
